Kayaking and Sightseeing in Georgetown
My Little Emma and I have enjoyed kayaking together. We rented a two-girl kayak from Jack's Boathouse in Georgetown and kayaked along the Potomac in September. We spent the rest of the afternoon exploring Georgetown, including stumbling on the stairs used in the filming of the Exorcist. (Not a movie I've seen, but a famous tourist spot regardless)

Directions
Jack's Boathouse is located at the end of K Street in Georgetown, just underneath the intersection of the Key Bridge and the Whitehurst Freeway. Alternatively you can take either the Blue Line or the Orange line to the Rosslyn metro station and then take the Metro connection shuttle or walk the Key Bridge.

Paddle-boating
We also paddle-boated in the Tidal Basin--another really fun activity, though one I would recommend in the cooler fall and spring months rather than on a hot summer day. Paddle-boating is easier than kayaking, but both are a blast!

DIRECTIONS
The boats rental is located on the north side, between the Jefferson Memorial and the Washington Monument ; you won’t miss it. Parking is limited so you may want to take the metro to the Smithsonian stop.
