If you are looking for a great place to rollerblade or skateboard, you should check out Luckett Skate Park in Alexandria. Its run by the Alexandria Parks Department and open to the public for no charge

They have everything there that a budding skateboarder or a seasoned vet could want. It is a new park, so the equipment is in decent condition.  We have been there several times and it has never been too crowded. There are no attendants at the park, but they want you to wear pads and a helmet (not provided). I highly suggest them as well, especially for you Bigs who haven't been on wheels in a while, Littles who have no fear, and anyone else who doesn't want to experience another activity...trip to the local E.R.!!!

Directions

The park is located off Duke St. (south side) at the Wheeler intersection (3540 Wheeler Ave.). The nearest major cross streets are Duke and Telegraph.

Park Hours

The park hours vary according to the time of year:

April 9am-7pm
May-July 9am-8:30pm
August-September 9am-7pm
October-March 9am-5pm.

Tips

  1. It is an outdoor park so they don't open if it’s raining or the ground is wet.  For more information, you can call the Parks Department at 703-838-4343.
  2. Don’t forget to bring your helmet.
  3. Pack some snacks and drinks and a camera.
